SUMMARY:Buckfastleigh SOUP + Heart of Buckfastleigh awards
DESCRIPTION:SOUP is a non-bureaucratic way to support and fund local community projects\, which started in Detroit in 2010.  The idea is simple: Local people come together\, give a donation for a bowl of soup\, and listen to others pitch their project idea.  Pitchers each have the floor for up to five minutes and must rely on their passion and speaking abilities to win over the audience.  With the presentations over\, soup is served and participants will have time to think\, chat with others\, and mull over the ideas before choosing their favourite idea.  The winning pitches get to take home\, between them\, a share both of money taken at the door and of a local donation.  This time\, thanks to the generosity of a local donor and the Mayor’s Fund\, the sum to be distributed is £1\,000. \nOn the same evening\, we will also be presenting the Heart of Buckfastleigh Awards to people who have made an extra special contribution to the community in the past year. \nReserve your free tickets here.

It takes a meeting with a wise old woman and many more adventures before she discovers what her hair is really for. \nRunning time 40 minutes. Ages 4+ \nStorytelling by Leo Sofer with music by Sundara Sofer. \nLeo started storytelling in 1989 and has given thousands of performances for children in schools all over England. He has created a website of stories for children\, Palace of Stories\, which features over 100 audio stories for children. \nSundara Sofer started playing music as a young child\, and plays accordion\, harmonium\, flutes and whistles. Her latest love is the Handpan\, a magical instrument that instantly transports its listeners into story land! Sundara and Leo have been playing music together since they met in 1999.
