DESCRIPTION:Explore the beautiful Exe estuary on level\, traffic-free cycle paths that take you alongside the river\, passing through pretty villages and RSPB reserves which offer great opportunities for birdwatching. The views throughout are spectacular. \nWe will take the strain & organise your travel to the trail in The Bike Bus which carries passengers and their bikes to cycling destinations. We will pick you up from Buckfastleigh\, then you can relax in the comfort of our modern minibus whilst we transfer you to Exeter and the start of the trail. When you’ve reached Dawlish\, The Bike Bus will be waiting to take you home to Buckfastleigh — it’s that easy! \nStarting at the Quay in Exeter\, the route to Dawlish is 13 miles and runs off road throughout. It goes past Turf Lock\, Starcross\, Powderham Castle and Dawlish Warren. There are optional side routes for the more energetic and great spots for birdwatching and picknicking. \nThere are several places to stop off for refreshments\, or you can bring a picnic. We are very familiar with this route and can help with any questions on the run up to the day. Please email: info@thebikebus.biz for help with the route or cycle hire requirements. DESCRIPTION:Take a day out on the Moor with a difference\, cycling from Tavistock to Plymouth along Drake’s Trail. This event is organised at a subsidised price by Buckfastleigh Town Council and is intended for people living in the TQ11 postcode area. If space is available closer to the date\, we may open this event to others. \nWe will take the strain & organise your travel to the trail in The Bike Bus which carries passengers and their bikes to cycling destinations. We will pick you up from Buckfastleigh\, then you can relax in the comfort of our modern minibus whilst we transfer you to Tavistock and the start of the trail. When you’ve reached Plymouth\, The Bike Bus will be waiting to take you home to Buckfastleigh — it’s that easy! \nThe Drakes Trail is a total of 21 miles in length\, and runs off road throughout. In this direction it’s mostly flat or downhill. Enjoy the lovely scenery as you pass over magnificent historic railway bridges with far reaching views over the valley back towards Dartmoor. This ride will finish on the outskirts of Plymouth\, making your route 18 miles in length. Please be advised that lights are highly recommended as the Trail passes through several old railway tunnels\, so even on the brightest sunny day\, you’ll need to be seen inside these. \nThere are several places to stop off for refreshments\, or you can bring a picnic.
