Are you passionate about your community? Do you want to help make a long-lasting change? Do you have innovative ideas for the council? Do you have concerns about a specific issue and want to do something about it? If this is you, then we need you. We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect their community to put themselves forward for election
Town and parish councils can do a lot more than many people realise. Whilst other, larger, councils are responsible for things such as children’s services, fixing the roads, and managing parking, town councils can introduce initiatives that make a big difference to local people’s lives. These can range from introducing solar panels, setting up dementia-friendly groups and organising community buses to implementing suitable housing, establishing youth projects, managing allotments and open spaces, and maintaining footpaths, public seating and litter bins. Often these initiatives are run in conjunction with other community organisations, so it’s not always obvious to the general public that town councils have helped to make them happen.
