Buckfastleigh Community Energy Night

March 14, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Have your say on Buckfastleigh’s energy future!

Buckfastleigh Town Council is investigating the opportunities for exploiting our Devon woodlands, sunshine and high rainfall, to provide local heat and energy for Buckfastleigh. The council has secured a small amount of funding to look at the local opportunities and seek the input of the local residents, businesses and community organisations as to how Buckfastleigh can generate its own power.

The project will  look at generating electricity and heat for local businesses and community buildings. This will make local enterprises more sustainable both environmentally and economically and hopefully safeguard jobs for the future. Any eventual installations would be funded by local investment while excess profits will provide grant support to local good causes. This would also retain finances within our local economy and stop it being lost to the big multi-national energy supply companies.

This event is set up for us to discuss the project, get feedback from everyone in Buckfastleigh and then with your support, identify the opportunities for renewable energy in the town.
