The Parent Support Group is for anyone experiencing issues relating to their children either at home or within the community. This could be anything from managing negative behaviours at home to the impacts of a sudden change within the family dynamic. The groups are entirely led by the parents to make sure we are helping them tackle the issues they most care about.
The approach of this group is different to many parent groups. We are led by you (the parents) and aim to help you find new approaches to give your child the best chance of succeeding. We understand that parents may have already tried their hardest to resolve issues and this group gives them an opportunity to look at approaches they might not have thought of or known about. We also sometimes help connect parents who are experiencing similar issues to allow them to share ideas. We have found this works well because they have a deep understanding from the real lived experience.
Attendance is voluntary and we have found that previous groups have been very effective in supporting parents. In some instances, friendships have even been formed after taking part.
We all want the best for our children. Our aim is to try and make this a reality by providing useful and non-judgemental support in a way that is meaningful to the parents.
