Message from the Trustees – Temporary suspension of large events at Buckfastleigh Town Hall
Problems at recent events at the Town Hall have identified a number of serious Health & Safety issues particularly in regard to unstaffed use of the building for large events.
Fire safety risk assessments have also highlighted issues that need to be urgently addressed.
In the light of these, trustees have taken the difficult decision to suspend all large event bookings until further notice.
We have employed an expert to come up with a safe working programme for the wide variety of events that are held there and are addressing the fire safety issues.
Until these issues are satisfactorily addressed, no large events will be held in the town hall and no bookings for large events will be taken. This unfortunately includes the Town Hall run Cinema Club so it’s May screening will be postponed.
Regular, recurring events such as classes and meeting as well as smaller, one-off bookings will not be affected. Dates can still be reserved for future large events but these can’t be guaranteed until these matters are resolved.
