Planned Move for Buckfastleigh Post Office

PLANNED MOVE FOR BUCKFASTLEIGH POST OFFICE

  • Move to Huccaby’s News, 46 Fore Street, Buckfastleigh, TQ11 0AA
  • Modern open-plan retail environment
  • Six week public consultation

The Post Office is planning to relocate Buckfastleigh Post Office to Huccaby’s News, 46 Fore Street, Buckfastleigh, TQ11 0AA.  It would be a new-style local branch with Post Office services provided from two open-plan counters alongside the retail counter.

Opening hours would be the same as currently Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 5.30pm. Saturday: 8.30am – 1pm.

The current postmaster at 24 Fore Street, Buckfastleigh, TQ11 0AA has resigned and the premises will no longer be available for Post Office use after Wednesday 5 June.

A new retailer has been identified to operate the above Post Office. Our priority is to safeguard our services in the locality in the longer term and the relocation of Buckfastleigh Post Office will enable us to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in the local community.

In order to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in Buckfastleigh, the new service will open on Monday 10 June at 1pm. However this does not affect the period of public consultation which is ongoing until 2 July.

During the short-term temporary closure of Buckfastleigh Post Office alternative branches include:

  • Buckfast Post Office, Buckfast Road, Buckfast, TQ11 0EA
  • Ashburton Post Office, 4 St Lawrence Lane, Ashburton, TQ13 7DD

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a public consultation and we are looking for feedback about accessibility, local community issues and anything that we can do to make life easier for our customers.

The consultation will close on 2 July 2019. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 205552.

Submissions can also be made via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
